Recap of the webinar;Timber as a Carbon Sink!
On October, 21st 2025 the Swiss Carbon Removal Platform Webinar brought together a variety of perspectives on the subject of Timber Construction as a Carbon Sink.
We explored how wood-based building materials can store carbon long-term – and what’s needed to make such approaches both credible and scalable. The session featured expert insights from:
• Naim Solh (Timber Finance) – on the ICROA methodology for long-lived storage of timer in construction and how Timber Finance develops a standard for generating Carbon Removal Credits
• Lea Bernath (Swiss Wood Innovation Network S-WIN/ CLB Schweiz Ltd.) together with Brigitt Hausammann (Swiss Post) – on innovation and implementation across the Swiss timber value chain with a focus. Harvested Wood Products (hashtag#HWP) and the net-zero strategy of Swiss Post.
• Palle Petersen (Hochparterre) – offering a critical perspective on how carbon removals can fit in the building sector and what limits them.
